Today, on the 28th of April, is this year’s World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This day arrives at difficult and economically unstable circumstances, where governments, employers and their organizations are challenged trying to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring safety and health at work.

One major concern is to sustain the progress made in suppressing the transmission of the Corona Virus while resuming activity. The International Labor Organization (ILO) states “using this day to raise awareness on the adoption of safe practices in workplaces and the role that occupational safety and health (OSH) services play”.

On this day we promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally, we focus international attention on the problem and help creating safety and health culture to reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.

History taught us that workplaces can play an important role in preventing and controlling outbreaks. Appropriate occupational safety and health measures can be vital to reducing the spread of the disease while protecting workers and society at large.

We never forget that cooperation between governments, scientists, employers and workers is crucial in addressing the COVID-19 crisis.

STOP THE PANDEMIC!
PROMOTE SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK.
